Meet Brian
Clinical experience. Academic expertise.
A practical approach to exercise.
I'm Dr Brian Begg, a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist with over 20 years' experience working in the NHS, primarily in cardiac rehabilitation. During that time, I've helped hundreds of people return to physical activity and exercise, rebuild their fitness and regain confidence following a heart event or diagnosis.
Alongside my clinical experience, I have a PhD in Clinical Exercise Physiology and work in higher education, combining teaching, research and clinical exercise practice. Much of my research has focused on how exercise, including high-intensity interval training (HIIT), can be used safely and effectively to improve health and fitness in people living with cardiovascular disease.
My experience extends beyond cardiac rehabilitation. I've worked with people at different stages of their health and fitness journey, from those recovering after illness or managing long-term health conditions to those looking for specialist guidance to improve their fitness, strength and overall wellbeing.
I established BEGG Clinical Exercise to make specialist exercise advice and support more accessible, whether that's helping someone understand how to approach exercise following a diagnosis, providing a personalised exercise programme or offering ongoing guidance and support, online or in person.
My approach is simple: take the time to understand each person's health, circumstances and goals, then use clinical experience and exercise science to provide advice and support that is appropriate, practical and tailored to their individual needs.
